Yichi is a geotechnical engineer on our growing San Diego team who brings a strong blend of academic knowledge and practical experience to his role. He investigates sites, collects samples, performs numerical simulations, and gives our engineers the data they need to design foundations and deliver sound geotechnical recommendations to our clients.

“Soil is a unique material influenced by numerous factors,” Yichi says. “I enjoy tackling difficult issues, and the inherent challenges of working with soil have deepened my interest in this field.”

Yichi completed his master’s and doctorate degrees at Texas A&M University. Along the way, Yichi gained valuable field experience and learned how to apply his knowledge as an intern—first in China and again in Houston during his graduate studies. After finishing his Ph.D. work, Yichi launched his career at GeoEngineers in 2024.

“The people at GeoEngineers are what truly makes it special,” Yichi says. “The professionalism and talent within the team are evident, and there’s a genuine sense of care for one another that fosters a strong sense of belonging. Everyone here is committed to delivering top-quality work as a cohesive team, which really resonates with me.”

Outside of work, Yichi loves staying active with tennis and snowboarding. “I can do these all day!” Yichi says. “I am trying to find a chance to play tennis with [San Diego colleague] Arash Pirouzi. I heard he is pretty good.”
