Expertise

“Sonny” (Sung-Chul) is a computer-aided design (CAD) professional who creates site plans, cross-sections and detail drawings for client projects. He thrives on the precision and myriad details that CAD requires and enjoys sinking his teeth into large, complex projects. Sonny explains that drafting has come a long way in recent decades.

“Historically, drafting was all done by the real engineers, who hand-sketched everything out and made hard-copy engineering drawings from the sketches. Today we don’t have to do that,” Sonny says. “Everything is drawn on computers and all of the electronic files are stored in the CAD files and on network servers.”

There’s a lot to like about working at GeoEngineers, Sonny recounts. “I like to challenge myself every day and learn new things from our Technology group, project managers and staff. I love to work on the jobs from start to finish that meet our clients’ needs.” Sonny has completed too many projects to be able to call out just one as a favorite. His successes include projects for the Port of Tacoma, BNSF Railway Company, the Washington State Department of Transportation, Puget Sound Energy and the Olympic Pipe Line Company, to name a few.

For fun, Sonny watches and plays sports such as football, baseball and soccer. He enjoys being with family and friends and watching all genres of movies.
