As a corporate paralegal, Sarah plays a critical role on GeoEngineers’ legal team. She supports General Counsel Emily Dahl in legal research, records management, and a variety of responsibilities related to the firm’s risk management, corporate governance, and board.

Sarah holds a master’s degree in environmental policy and her career has given her a unique perspective on the broader AEC industry. Before joining GeoEngineers, Sarah held positions at the Natural Resources Defense Council (an environmental non-profit), and Amazon, where she worked as a patent paralegal and principal engineer recruiting coordinator. Early in her career, Sarah worked as a court clerk at the Snohomish County District Court. While there, she began to see the law from a new point of view.

“I realized how much the legal field impacts peoples’ lives,” Sarah says. “It’s a snapshot into the ethics and intended direction of a culture and it allows those working in the field to have a very real effect on their community.”

In 2024, Sarah joined GeoEngineers looking for opportunities to dig deeper into the legal field while making a positive impact in communities and ecosystems.

“I love research and writing because it feels like a way to be constantly learning,” Sarah says. “Being able to do both of those things towards the end result of making life safer, cleaner, and more environmentally sound for my local and broader community is very rewarding.”

Outside of work, Sarah tries to stay active. She picked up her old soccer habit again after a decade-long break and has a new passion for trail running—as long as she is equipped with snacks and podcasts. In keeping with her environmental policy roots, Sarah is always up for a political debate!
