As a member of GeoEngineers’ national CAD team, Lisa plays an important role in visualizing our projects through site plans, vicinity maps, and technical drafting. She supports our project engineers, keeps our expansive detail graphics library up to date, and enjoys every chance she gets to expand her AutoCAD skills.

After a decade in hospitality management, Lisa discovered an unexpected passion for drafting and CAD when she and her partner started building a home. She was inspired by the challenge to be creative within the boundaries of building codes and industry standards. Soon, Lisa realized her developing CAD skills could make an even bigger impact on her community

“As I started to learn more about drafting, I became a part of the Hydropower Foundation,” Lisa says. “There, I could clearly see the connection between project development and contributing to a green future for my community. I had been searching for a way to make a positive impact on the future of our world for a long time. With drafting, I feel like I can play a small part in achieving those goals.”

Lisa met GeoEngineers while still pursuing her drafting certificate at Wenatchee Valley College. She ran into several staff members while attending the Hydropower Foundation Convention in Seattle, and Lisa’s passion for CAD—and meaningful community projects—showed through. Lisa accepted a part-time CAD position while still working on her certificate, giving GeoEngineers a valuable new staff member and Lisa a taste of real project work.

“I love that every project is unique, so I am always learning something new as I go,” Lisa says.

When she’s not busy with work and school responsibilities, Lisa likes to get outside. She lives near Stevens Pass, Washington, where she has been snowboarding since childhood. You might find Lisa and her pet husky exploring new slopes on backcountry rides, or backpacking, dirt biking, climbing, and mountain biking when the snow melts. At home, Lisa might be tending her garden, experimenting with art, or digging into a fantasy novel.
