Jonathan is a Compliance and Information Specialist based in GeoEngineers’ Redmond office. He helps manage licenses and registrations for the firm and its licensed professionals, ensuring that GeoEngineers and its staff meet all industry and regulatory requirements. In short, Jonathan keeps the company operating within the rules and standards of complex professional environments.

Jonathan’s path to compliance and regulatory work is anything but ordinary. Before joining GeoEngineers, he spent eight years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service as a Machinist Mate Nuclear First Class. Stationed aboard two submarines, he monitored, operated, and maintained the reactor and steam plant systems and specialized in chemistry oversight and radiological controls. His first submarine assignment included a massive, multiyear shipyard overhaul, where he worked alongside cross-functional engineering teams. That experience taught him how large, interdisciplinary groups plan and execute complicated technical projects.

After leaving the Navy, Jonathan worked for two years in the data center industry while completing his bachelor’s degree. He later pursued a Juris Doctor at Chapman University, building on his technical background with legal training focused on regulations, ethics, and efficient decision-making. He sees compliance as a natural intersection of his skills. “Having worked with large interdisciplinary teams of engineers and technicians, coupled with my law school instruction…my experience makes me a useful team member and I am motivated to be of use,” he explains.

At GeoEngineers, Jonathan hopes to not only support project teams but also contribute to a strong and positive company culture. Outside of work, you can usually find him spending time with his wife and daughter, where imagination rules: his living room may transform into “a combat arena, a witch’s lair, or a dragon’s castle.” He also enjoys fishing, woodworking, and watching sports.
