Jacob is on the front lines of our Bellingham team’s fieldwork. He helps us understand project sites by performing geotechnical field explorations and characterizing soils, and during construction he monitors work to confirm that it follows established plans and meets client expectations. In the office, Jacob helps his colleagues prepare reports and recommendations for clients.

“I enjoy the balance between office and fieldwork,” Jacob says. “I have enjoyed learning and observing new methods of construction and learning the basics of the geotechnical practice.”

Jacob’s interest in geotechnical engineering was first piqued during his time at Western Washington University, where he discovered an interest in both geology and engineering—and how they intersect. After completing his geology degree at WWU, Jacob found a place to continue exploring that intersection at GeoEngineers. He is looking forward to learning from his colleagues and eventually becoming a licensed geologist.

Jacob enjoys hanging out with friends and playing soccer and golf in his free time. When the weather is good you might find him camping or fly fishing on the weekends. He’s also a serious hot sauce connoisseur!
