Hussein serves as a staff geotechnical scientist in GeoEngineers’ Baton Rouge office, where he evaluates subsurface conditions to ensure that buildings, roads, and bridges are built on safe and reliable foundations. “In essence, I help ensure that every project is built on a solid and dependable foundation,” he says. His work includes analyzing soil behavior, conducting field and laboratory tests, and contributing to the design of foundation systems that promote long-term structural stability.
Hussein’s passion for geotechnical engineering began during an internship, where he observed firsthand how soil conditions could vary dramatically from one site to another. “Observing how engineers adapted foundation systems to suit each condition was eye-opening, and that experience sparked my passion for geotechnical engineering,” he recalls. Prior to joining GeoEngineers, he gained hands-on experience designing deep foundations and conducted research focused on innovative foundation materials and soil-structure interaction.
At GeoEngineers, Hussein strives to grow as a well-rounded geotechnical engineer by working on diverse and technically challenging projects. He is eager to apply his expertise in foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and geotechnical analysis while learning from experienced mentors. His goal is to take on increasing responsibility, support innovative and sustainable solutions, and eventually contribute to mentoring younger engineers and advancing the field through meaningful project work.
Outside the office, Hussein enjoys staying active with volleyball, soccer, and swimming. Whether it’s a casual game or a rigorous workout, he appreciates activities that keep him moving and help clear his mind.
