Divya is an important member of our Seattle environmental team, where she focuses on remediation for sites with complex subsurface contamination. Understanding and addressing impacted soil and groundwater can be challenging, but Divya’s attention to detail and relentless curiosity guides her each step of the way. She researches site history, collects field samples, characterizes contamination, and develops and implements remediation plans to remove or mitigate affected material. By addressing environmental issues efficiently, Divya aims to reduce long-term risks for our clients while protecting human health and the environment.

Divya’s journey into environmental engineering began when her high school in India took a field trip to one of the country’s largest dams.

“I learned about the benefits of the dam, but also its impact on the environment, flora and fauna, and local tribes,” Divya says. “That made me interested not only in engineering, but its broader impact on the environment.”

Divya’s career has included extensive experience with environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater remediation, fieldwork, data analysis, and preparing remedial action plans and regulatory reports.

In 2024, Divya joined GeoEngineers, drawn by the company’s culture, diverse projects, flexibility, mentorship opportunities, and broad employee ownership model. She values the ability to take ownership of her work and collaborate with others to make a positive difference in the world.

“We get to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with a wide variety of different stakeholders and communities,” Divya says. “The diversity of perspectives and expertise drives our passion for finding sustainable solutions, and I love it.”

Like many environmental professionals, Divya’s interest in nature extends to her personal life. She enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors and says that five years on the California coast have “almost made me a water person.” She flexes her creativity with arts and crafts at home, and as a vegetarian and “big-time foodie,” Divya also loves experimenting to create delicious plant-based dishes.
