At GeoEngineers, Abhijit supports complex soil, sediment and groundwater remediation projects. He investigates contaminated sites, evaluates and interprets environmental data, develops remedial designs, prepares design drawings and specifications, creates project cost estimates, implements designs and monitors construction in the field.

“Environmental engineering not only motivates me by the challenges it has to offer, but helping to restore Mother Nature also gives me a greater sense of contentment,” Abhijit explains. “Environmental engineers have an unprecedented role to play globally to develop a safer and sustainable world now and in the future.”

Abhijit’s most memorable project was the Former Scott Paper Mill Cleanup Project in Anacortes, WA, one of the largest cleanup project undertaken by Washington State Department of Ecology under the Puget Sound Initiative. “This was the first large-scale cleanup project where I had opportunities not only to design and implement the cleanup, but also to work directly with the client, regulators and contractors. Working on this project was a great learning experience and polished me as an environmental engineer early on in my career. We cleaned and restored prime waterfront and upland area of Anacortes and built new beach and an upland park that Anacortes’ community and visitors will enjoy for years to come,” he says proudly.

In both his work and his free time, Abhijit keeps his camera within reach. “My interest in photography goes hand in hand with my work. My work has taken me to several amazing places around Washington State and has given me lots of opportunities to take photographs of wildlife and nature in my free time.”
