Workshop Teaches Engineering to Elementary Students

Last week, Alicia Sellers of GeoEngineers’ Baton Rouge office worked with the American Society of Civil Engineers – Baton Rouge Chapter to hold an engineering workshop for 7th and 8th grade students at Rougon Elementary. After an interactive presentation, Alicia and her team led several activities. The children took on their own engineering challenge by designing and building bridges out of drinking straws. Then the group tested the load capacity of their creations by stacking pebbles on each bridge.

STEM education and advocacy is an important issue for GeoEngineers and our employees. We understand the need to inspire and engage the engineers and scientists of the future.
