GeoEngineers’ Baton Rouge office recently hosted a group of five students from Scotlandville Magnet High School. Jennie Aguettant and Alicia Sellers (Baton Rouge) led the group in presentations and activities, with the help of the drilling and lab departments. The day included demonstrations of drilling and lab equipment, along with a first-hand account from one of the office’s newest engineers, Denzel Flores, of what to expect as an entry-level engineer.
The students participated in activities to show the importance of communication with one another and practiced some practical engineering principles by competing to build paper towers capable of withstanding a specified load (a washer) and wind (a fan). They were treated to lunch and a trivia game where they could win small prizes. These students could be part of our next generation of engineers.
