GeoEngineers Hires James Baum as CFO

GeoEngineers, Inc. recently welcomed James Baum as the firm’s new chief financial officer (CFO). Mr. Baum is an accomplished CFO with more than 35 years of experience in financial management for engineering and construction firms, where he has helped to improve processes, grow business and increase profits.

“I’m excited to join the team and use the experience I’ve gathered over the years to add value to GeoEngineers wherever I can,” Mr. Baum says.

Mr. Baum launched his career working for small and mid-sized engineering firms in Southern California. It was not long before his leadership and strategic skills propelled him into a position as controller and then CFO. He spent the next three decades learning the finer points of financial reporting, strategic planning, cash management, budgeting, market development and executive leadership.

“Listening is a key component to leadership and management,” Mr. Baum says. “None of us has all the answers, so you rely on people to provide the right input so you can make a decision that’s beneficial to everybody.”

Over the years, Mr. Baum has specialized in employee-owned firms, so an employee-owned company like GeoEngineers is a natural fit. He also understands the broader consulting industry, and knows how to pursue mergers when appropriate, develop new markets and encourage collaboration along the way. GeoEngineers looks forward to continuing to diversify and grow under Mr. Baum’s leadership.
