The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recently awarded GeoEngineers Board Member William A. (Bill) Wallace, ENV SP, M.ASCE the President’s Medal at its 2014 Global Engineering Conference in Panama City, Panama. The award is given out annually at the discretion of ASCE’s president to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of eminent engineers to the engineering profession, society or the public.
Wallace, who operates a consulting practice on sustainable engineering in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, received the award for his leadership in the field of sustainable infrastructure, including serving on several national and international professional society committees and boards, and supporting the creation of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). He is also recognized as the primary designer for the Envision™ Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System, a collaboration between ISI and the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Earlier this year, Engineering News-Record (ENR) also recognized Wallace for these efforts and named him one of their 2013 “Top 25 Newsmakers” of the year.
