Senior Project Management Specialist

The Senior Project Management Specialist manages, facilitates and supports activities related to the execution of geotechnical projects.  Coordinates all facets of projects, including project schedule and deadlines for submission of deliverables, scheduling initiation and completion of field activities, planning and coordinating staff resources, scheduling and attending project meetings, scheduling and coordinating field equipment, organizing and maintaining project files (plans, reports, etc.), monitoring contracts, budgets, change orders, subconsultant and subcontractor agreements, and coordinating with accounting to produce and issue project invoices. The Project Management Specialist serves as internal team point of contact, ensuring effective communication and team coordination. Facilitates development of project, resource, and staffing plans, secures required resources, tracks and reports on progress, troubleshoots issues, and ensure project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with clients, technical project managers, and Principals/Associates to develop work plans for individual projects, particularly those larger and more complex, or multiple mid-size to smaller projects, simultaneously. 
  • Manages and forecasts workload needs, identifying gaps and staffing needs and partnering with managers to address those needs. 
  • Leads project execution efforts including staffing and scheduling, client meetings, contract adherence, budget review and invoicing, and related deliverables. 
  • In partnership with Discipline Leader, Assistant Discipline Leader, and Group Leaders, allocates appropriate staff resources for project execution and pursuits. 
  • Partners with the contracts team to process sub and prime agreements.
  • Coordinates among disciplines to ensure project needs are met, including assisting other disciplines in identifying appropriate staffing to fulfill commitments.  
  • Regularly evaluates project management processes and systems, developing and implementing improvements as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the A/E industry or other professional services industry. Project management experience highly preferred. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Project) and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Deltek Vision preferred. 
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of initiative, effectively meet set deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements. 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., prolonged sitting and regular walking, bending, standing and reaching.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged view of a monitor/screen.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally as needed.

Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
