As a Senior Geo-Structural Engineer, you will play a key role working on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects across the US! Our Construction Design Group works on a variety of transportation, energy, development, and natural resources projects. Responsibilities include managing projects and existing clients within the Construction Design Group to perform accurate, timely, and profitable completion of the projects, coordinate internally with other disciplines to cross-sell and cross-perform our services, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff, project management tasks including budgeting and client communications performing engineering analyses and preparing technical submittal, as well as conducting regular site visits, overseeing exploration programs and construction observations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads all project management tasks such as developing budgets and scopes, client billings, client communications, submittal reviews, contract reviews, and proposal development. Partners with Principals and Associates to ensure effective execution of multiple projects.
- Serves as a technical resource for clients and project staff; provides guidance and expertise to solve complex challenges.
- Develops complete and accurate submittals that require minimal edits or revisions.
- Reviews deliverables from staff and mid-level employees such as field reports, calculations, analyses, etc. Mentors junior staff relative to technical skills, consulting best practices, etc.
- Leads business-development activities such as identifying potential new clients, attending conferences or professional association meetings, etc.
- Completes geotechnical/structural engineering analyses and calculations.
- Prepares deliverables such as memos and reports and provides quality assurance/control support. Ensures that deliverables are submitted to the client with partnership from the Principal or Associate in a timely manner.
- Produces typical geo-structural designs such as temporary excavation support, retaining wall, soil nail wall, slurry wall, slope stability, shallow and deep foundation, construction dewatering, work trestle, temporary shoring, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering required; Master’s in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.
- At least two years of project management experience.
- PE license required.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.
- Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to engage in Site Visits and travel as required to support work.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
- Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
- Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
- All employees are responsible for conducting their work in a safe manner. This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position, located in Southborough, MA, Redmond WA, or San Diego, CA is $107,800 – $152,000. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
