GeoEngineers Announces Lindsay Flangas as Next COO

On June 17, the GeoEngineers Inc. Board unanimously affirmed Lindsay Flangas as the firm’s next chief operations officer (COO). Current COO Dan Campbell is taking on a new role as president, which will allow him to focus on acquisitions, contracts, and risk management.

Flangas started her career as an intern with GeoEngineers in 2002 while completing her graduate degree in geotechnical engineering at the University of Washington. Over the next 18 years, Flangas’ hard work and dedication to her field elevated her to project manager, assistant group leader, group leader, business unit leader and now COO. During that time, her technical work has often focused on Seattle, Washington’s downtown development market and dam safety work in the Pacific Northwest.

“This company means a great deal to me,” Lindsay said. “It has created a career home for so many of us. It is a place where we are valued as whole people and given opportunities to be challenged and grow both personally and professionally. I’m looking forward to working with our team to keep this firm growing and thriving so that many more can share the experience.”

Last November, an internal selection team began considering candidates for the role and planning for a smooth and intentional transition that would retain Dan Campbell’s decades of engineering and management experience in a different role. Campbell will continue to fulfill the COO role for the next nine months, with Flangas working alongside to gradually take on her new responsibilities. Once the transition is complete, Campbell will focus on the strategic responsibilities of the president, while Flangas manages daily operations as COO.
