Nathan is an experienced geo-structural engineer who plays a pivotal role in leading GeoEngineers’ construction design work on the West Coast. He balances technical and business management responsibilities and guides clients through from site exploration to project execution. Nathan’s varied background in geotechnical engineering, geo-structural engineering, and construction has given him the right mix of skills and experience to effectively tackle our clients’ most complex challenges.

“I love geo-structural engineering because you get to solve problems at every stage of a project, from site exploration to exactly how to build the project,” Nathan says. “I’m able to leverage my experience on both sides to focus on the right questions and solutions, but still get to explore a large sandbox of tools and options in finding the right constructible solution.”

Nathan joined GeoEngineers in 2018 and spent time in the geotechnical engineering group before transferring to the firm’s construction design group shortly after its formation in 2019. Over his career, Nathan has specialized in slope stability, working platforms, construction methods, and deep and shallow foundation design, allowing him to contribute to a wide range of development, heavy civil, and port/marine projects.

Nathan’s creativity and engineering skills even extend to his eclectic personal interests. Outside of work, you might find Nathan making LED art, gardening, renovating his 100-year-old Portland home—and building large burnable public art installations!
