As Director of Integrated Communications, Stefani manages the stories we tell—to the public, to clients, and to each other. She aligns our internal and external communications with each other and with GeoEngineers’ priorities and values. Stefani works closely with our branding and communication team, provides strategic leadership on business development initiatives, and manages a team of proposal specialists to ensure our messages are persuasive, innovative, and accurate.
“I’ve always loved diving deep into strategic efforts that rely on carefully crafted stories and information sharing,” Stefani says. “My studies in organizational communications, journalism, and public relations have translated nicely to the many roles I’ve had within the AEC industry over the years. Now, I have the privilege of leveraging my experience to reinforce our brand through an integrated communications program.”
Stefani started her career at GeoEngineers as a marketing assistant, working with marketing and technical staff to write statements of qualifications, organize external marketing events, and produce public relations content. As the firm grew, she focused more on establishing strong relationships with pivotal clients and partners to craft competitive proposals for projects in the Puget Sound region and across the country.
This effort perfectly positioned Stefani to take on the challenge of supporting our team to pursue more complex design-build transportation projects. Her leadership and communication skills helped our cross-discipline teams connect with clients and share their unique project perspectives. Notably, Stefani has been heavily involved in crafting GeoEngineers’ strategy and teaming decisions for 14 Washington State DOT fish passage design-build pursuits over the past five years.
“Working closely with our staff and the staff at our teaming partner firms to pursue big, complex fish passage and infrastructure projects is very exciting,” she says. “Seeing how the pieces come together on the team and telling the stories of our experience is unique to each pursuit, which keeps it fun and interesting!”
Beyond her business development work, Stefani also co-founded GeoEngineers’ Inclusive Contracting Committee in 2014 and has led efforts to change the way the company looks at small and/or diverse businesses to ensure those firms have a seat at the table on our projects. This work also led to Stefani’s involvement in establishing the Washington State ACEC DEIB committee, which she is currently co-chairing.
Outside of work, Stefani enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons. They love to be outdoors camping, fishing, or boating, but when the Seattle weather doesn’t cooperate you can find her indoors continuing her “old lady” pandemic hobby of cross-stitch.
