GeoEngineers COO Dan Campbell is pleased to announce two important senior staff promotions. Jason Poulsen is now an associate environmental scientist and Joe Callaghan is GeoEngineers’ newest principal environmental scientist.
Joe Callaghan is based in GeoEngineers’ Tacoma office, and heads the firm’s Natural Resource Protection Group for the southern Puget Sound. His technical work focuses on permitting and habitat design related to streams, wetlands and marine near-shore environments—with a recent emphasis on fish passage projects. As a long-time leader and now principal, Callaghan also mentors staff and works to develop new business and client relationships.

Jason Poulsen leads GeoEngineers’ West Environmental Group out of the Boise office. His team members are spread out geographically across offices, but Poulsen’s leadership has brought them together to take on larger environmental projects in the mining and transportation markets in recent years.
The process for promoting employees to principal and associate positions is rigorous. It often begins a year or more in advance of the promotion and includes detailed nominations. Over the course of a year, senior management holds a series of interviews and conversations with the candidate to evaluate their suitability and qualifications and give suggestions to help them on their journey.
