King leads GeoEngineers as CEO, overseeing strategic planning, growth, profitability, and collaborating with our executive team on the firm’s daily operations. In addition to his leadership and management responsibilities, King is an experienced geotechnical engineer who specializes in highly technical numerical modeling and soil-structure interaction analyses. No matter how technical and complex our work becomes, King emphasizes that people are the driving force behind GeoEngineers’ success.
“It’s inspiring to work with engineers and scientists who are curious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated to apply emerging science and technology to transform our industry,” King says.
King joined GeoEngineers in 1998 as a temporary employee, but his work ethic and rapidly developing technical skills soon brought advancement and success. His early work focused on geotechnical engineering for industrial, marine, and complex urban development projects. Over the years, King specialized in numerical modeling and expanded GeoEngineers’ seismic analysis capabilities, offering peer reviews and designs for a wide range of clients and project types across the country. His work included seismic and shoring design for urban high-rise developments that eventually led to GeoEngineers’ modern suite of performance-based design services.
“I’ve always enjoyed out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving,” King says. “As CEO, I can apply these skills to GeoEngineers’ strategic goals while reflecting the many different perspectives of our people and staying true to our company’s values and purposes.”
Outside of work, King prioritizes time with his wife and son. They enjoy traveling, experiencing new places and cultures together—and eating good food!
“GeoEngineers is a special organization,” King says. “We are scientists and engineers, but that is not all we are, and GeoEngineers’ values reflect that. We care about helping each other be successful, doing what we are passionate about professionally, and thriving and prospering in life. We are better together.”
