Stuart is a project manager on our environmental team, specializing in remediation and other environmental services for development clients. Historical contamination and a long list of potential environmental issues can delay and derail development projects, but Stuart helps keep our clients on track. He assesses sites, helps manage environmental risks, and recommends remediation plans when necessary.
“I think the most valuable experience I bring is an understanding of the redevelopment process and how to customize environmental due diligence, characterization, and remediation to fit a client’s goals and schedule,” Stuart says.
Stuart’s passion for natural processes and the outdoors has been a driving force throughout his career. He was drawn to the environmental field because it gave him a chance to pursue his multidisciplinary interests in ecology, biology, chemistry, geology, history, and construction.
“Like many in the environmental field, I grew up with a love of the outdoors,” Stuart says. “I was looking for a profession that would allow me to work outside, and the broadness of the field means you’re always learning.”
Before joining GeoEngineers, Stuart had the opportunity to learn, and lead, as a project manager for a wide range of environmental projects across the Pacific Northwest. His experience includes property redevelopment, due diligence investigations, and the characterization of emerging contaminants like PFAS. Stuart knows how to balance the needs of his clients with the realities of environmental regulations and site conditions. He collaborates with developers and agencies to find solutions that help our clients reach their goals while protecting human health and the environment.
Outside of work, you might find Stuart taking on home improvement projects or spending time with his family. He and his wife have two children in elementary school, and he looks for opportunities to get them outside for activities like camping and hiking ‘with the least amount of whining’ possible!
