Fluvial Geomorphology
Fluvial geomorphology is a fundamental component of GeoEngineers’ river projects. Our scientists’ demonstrated expertise in the fundamentals of fluvial dynamics and applied geomorphology gives us a basis for sound, scientifically based evaluations of physical riverine processes, such as historic changes in channel form, current channel stability and river-floodplain interactions. These skills are critically important in GeoEngineers’ river restoration and fish passage barrier removal projects. A healthy, integrated riverine ecosystem must be built around carefully designed channels and flood plains. To create sustainable and fish-friendly designs, our team considers physical characteristics and processes of the watershed, infrastructure design, and the habitat and geomorphology of the river both up and downstream from the project site.
