Update: Geo’s Baton Rouge Office Weathers Tropical Storm Isaac

GeoEngineers’ Baton Rouge, Louisiana office is closed on Friday, August 31st due to limited/intermittent electrical power. The office closed on Tuesday afternoon, August 28th, as Hurricane Isaac headed toward the Louisiana coast and remained closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

To ensure continuity of service to clients, phone calls to the Baton Rouge office are being forwarded to the Springfield (MO) office and the Springfield staff are directing calls and requests to appropriate GeoEngineers staff. Calls are not being been routed to cell phones, but texts to cell phones are getting through.

Isaac was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm after its first Wednesday onslaught, but delivered heavy winds and torrential rain and left many downed power lines and trees in its wake. Principal engineer and south business unit leader David Sauls, PE reported on Thursday that the power was off at the Baton Rouge office, at most Geo employees’ homes and all around the city. Most traffic lights in the area are out and fallen trees block several main streets. He shared the news that a tree fell on principal engineer Jim Aronstein’s house during the storm, but no one was hurt. “There will be lots of house and yard cleaning to do,” David remarked.
