The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recently recognized two GeoEngineers projects with Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Honor Awards. UDOT’s I-15 Technology Corridor and the City of Bellevue’s NE Spring Boulevard were two of eight projects earning this national recognition.
The I-15 Technology Corridor project widened the highway to six lanes in each direction along a 4.4-mile stretch of I-15 near Lehi, Utah. GeoEngineers provided a full suite of geotechnical services for this complex highway project. It included two full interchange redesigns with a frontage road between them, 15 bridge replacements, a brand-new bridge over I-15, a new flyover ramp, and pedestrian and bike pathways that connect to regional trail systems and transit services.
Northeast Spring Boulevard is a main east-west artery through Bellevue, Washington, and the city has rebuilt it into a modern multimodal transportation route that features expanded travel lanes, accommodations for new light rail, and connections to pedestrian and cycling trails. A GeoEngineers team provided geotechnical services for the project, which included four travel lanes, five new intersections, two bridges, a multipurpose pathway, cycle tracks, and parking and drop-off zones. The City of Bellevue wants Northeast Spring Boulevard to be a blueprint for future multimodal corridors in Washington and beyond.
