As CFO, Jim plays an important role in guiding day-to-day financial operations and the long-term strategic direction of the firm. He has more than three decades of experience in financial management for engineering and construction firms, specializing in financial reporting, strategic planning, cash management, budgeting, market development and executive leadership.

Jim launched his career working for small and mid-sized engineering firms in Southern California. It wasn’t long before Jim’s leadership and strategic skills propelled him into a position as controller and then CFO. He spent the next thirty-five years helping construction and engineering companies improve their processes, grow their people and increase their profits. In 2022, Jim brought his unique experience and perspectives to GeoEngineers.

“I became interested after speaking with [previous CFO] Jon Rodriguez,” Jim says. “The quality of the company and the fact that it was employee-owned had a big influence in my coming over.”

Over the years, Jim has specialized in employee-owned firms, so an employee-owned company like GeoEngineers is a natural fit. He also understands the broader consulting industry, and knows how to pursue mergers when appropriate, develop new markets and encourage collaboration along the way.

“Listening is a key component to leadership and management,” Jim says. “None of us has all the answers, so you rely on people to provide the right input so you can make a decision that’s beneficial to everybody.”

Jim likes to spend his free time with his family; walking, hiking, or just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company.
