Sara fills several critical roles on our financial team, from preparing journal entries and reviewing account reconciliations to analyzing GeoEngineers’ financial statements each month. She also specializes in compliance issues like tax payments, audits and annual statement reviews.
“I’ve worked for a few different types of companies—from accounting firms to manufacturing companies,” Sara says. “What I find most interesting about being in accounting is the unique perspective you get of the company.”
Because Sara supports every GeoEngineers office and technical practice, she gets to see the incredible diversity of our work. She enjoys the chance to interact with people across the company from day to day, and she’s always ready to answer questions and fulfill special requests thanks to her broad accounting background.
“We often help to prepare reports and information for the management team to assist in making business decisions,” Sara explains.
One of Sara’s most memorable challenges came just after joining GeoEngineers. Sara started work near the end of the year—right before our annual review and overhead audit. Coming from a different industry there were new requirements and procedures to follow, but Sara was up to the task.
“I had to learn about these new regulations and apply them to our company in a pretty short amount of time, while also getting familiar with the company as a whole,” Sara says. “Thanks to the help from the rest of the team, we were able to complete both our annual review and overhead audit on time without any issues raised by the auditors.”
On weekends you might find Sara playing soccer in a recreational league, discovering new snowshoeing or hiking spots, watching the Mariners or just relaxing at home with a crossword puzzle. And if you have a favorite bakery she’d love to hear about it. “I am also always on the hunt for the best cinnamon roll!” Sara says.
