Jerad Hoffman

After stumbling across geotechnical reports during a manufacturing-plant internship, Jerad decided to pursue his master’s degree in geotechnical engineering. He has taken his experience working for a local utility district on trenchless pipeline installations and prior experience at a small geotechnical engineering firm to become a staff geotechnical engineer for the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) group in our Portland office.

Jerad says that one thing he understands about the profession is that you need to look at the “big picture.” He enjoys combining geology and engineering with professional judgement and observation to make the projects he’s involved in successful.

“As part of the HDD group, I’m looking forward to seeing the country and its geology,” Jerad says. “I’ve always enjoyed and respected the outdoors. As a result I take a great deal of pride in work I get involved in.”

Not only does Jerad spend a lot of his time at work in the field, but he also spends his free time outdoors. He likes to hike, mountain bike, ski, snowboard and kayak. When he isn’t outside, you can find him at a coffee shop reading technical journals or hanging out with friends.
