Ben Upsall

Passionate about design-build projects, Ben focuses most of his efforts pursuing, designing and managing a wide array of tunnel, bridge and highway projects. His background in geological engineering throughout the Seattle metro region and a fascination with landslide and glacial processes have made Ben a vital part of our transportation work in the Puget Sound. Over the past decade, Ben has learned to navigate the chaotic and challenging world of alternative project delivery methods, especially design-build.

“The first time I experienced working on a design-build project, I knew I was hooked,” Ben says. “It is so fast paced and forces you to find creative solutions to atypical problems quickly. Organization and project management skills are key with these high-speed delivery projects.”

Ben finds it hard to “leave the engineer at work,” especially when his two young sons, who love construction equipment, are ever curious about what dad does at work. When he can find free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, laughing with friends, woodworking and hiking around the Northwest.
