Ty has always been attracted to technology and fields with a visual component. He studied fine arts in college and later gravitated toward graphic design. Prior to joining GeoEngineers, he was first a graphic designer and later a GIS Analyst at an environmental consulting company.
He recently came on board at GeoEngineers as a GIS Analyst. Ty’s work involves making maps by combining tabular data (such as spreadsheets) with spatial data (elements in the real world) to create a wholly new product. Ty says he enjoys bringing a creative perspective to his work and the learning opportunities his job affords. “I enjoy an atmosphere, such as the one found at GeoEngineers, where each new project provides a new challenge and an opportunity to learn something new.”
At the end of the day, Ty spends time with his two grade-school-age boys. He likes to play chess and read for relaxation, and reveals that his favorite author is John Steinbeck. Ty’s top creative outlet is oil painting, an art form he’s been involved with for many years.
