As a GeoEngineers principal, Garry Squires is responsible for quality control, loss prevention and client satisfaction on geotechnical engineering projects, especially those the Tacoma office leads. With his project teams, Garry conducts subsurface investigations, develops geotechnical design criteria for site development and designs shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and roadways. Garry says he particularly enjoys the technical writing and problem solving aspects of his job.

He also values the depth and varietry of GeoEngineers’  expertise and cites the San Francisco Bay Bridge project as an example of the company’s strengths:  “This was a highly visible, major construction project for a great client. We made them look good and saved them a lot of money.”

Scotland-born and educated, Garry returns to the United Kingdom periodically and has traveled widely for work and pleasure in Europe, Africa and North America. When he comes home to the Northwest, he relaxes by skiing or reading and works on perfecting his skill at barbecuing—while juggling a beer in one hand.
